Do inventory tasks with Velocity Inventory

• Buy and receive inventory

  To do this task

  1. Create a purchase order in QuickBooks.

     Important: You must always start by creating a purchase order when buying inventory. . You cannot buy inventory by creating a bill, item receipt, check, or credit card charge.

  2. Receive inventory against that purchase order in Velocity Inventory.

     Then Velocity Inventory generates a QuickBooks bill for you. . You can view the bill in both QuickBooks and Velocity Inventory.

  3. Pay the bill in QuickBooks.

• Sell inventory

  To do this task

  1. (Optional) Create an estimate in QuickBooks.

  2. Do one of the following:

     • If you created an estimate for this customer, create a sales order from the estimate in QuickBooks.

       or

     • Create a new sales order in QuickBooks.

       Important: You must always start by creating a sales order when selling inventory. . You cannot sell inventory by creating an invoice or sales receipt.

  3. Fulfill the sales order in Velocity Inventory.

     Then Velocity Inventory generates a QuickBooks invoice for you. . You can view the invoice in both QuickBooks and Velocity Inventory.

• Add a new inventory item

  To do this task

  1. Create the new Inventory Part or Inventory Assembly item in QuickBooks, but do not enter a quantity on hand.

  2. Enter the initial quantity on hand for that item in Velocity Inventory.

• Create a credit memo or refund for an inventory item

  To do this task

  1. Create a credit memo in Velocity Inventory.

     Then Velocity Inventory copies the credit memo to QuickBooks for you. . You can view the new credit memo in both QuickBooks and Velocity Inventory.

• Move inventory to a different location

  To do this task

  1. Click Vendors, click Inventory Activities, and then click Move Inventory by Location.

  2. Complete the move in Velocity Inventory.

• Make changes to saved transactions

  What is a transaction?

  To do this task

  1. Make the change by editing the transaction form, such as a bill or invoice, in Velocity Inventory.

     Important: You cannot edit any existing transaction form that contains inventory items in QuickBooks. . Also do not edit a register to change any transaction that contains an inventory item.

  1. Click the Velocity Inventory icon on the QuickBooks Home page.
