Back up company files using QuickBooks Online Backup

Before you can back up or restore your company file using QuickBooks Online Backup, you must first subscribe to this service.

To find out more about QuickBooks Online Backup go to the File menu, click Save copy or backup, click Backup copy, click Next, and then click the Learn more about QuickBooks Online Backup link.

Note: Once you subscribe to QuickBooks Online Backup, QuickBooks defaults to this option when you attempt to back up or restore your data.

Which files do I back up?

If you're using QuickBooks Online Backup, your QuickBooks company file (.qbw) is automatically preselected for backup when you open the Online Backup application from within QuickBooks. file handling, online backup service, . Backing up this file is sufficient.

In addition to a daily backup, we also recommend that once or twice a week you back up your company file locally, and then back up the resulting .qbb file to QuickBooks Online Backup.

To do this task

  1. Go to the File menu, click Save Copy or Backup to open the backup wizard.

  2. Click Backup copy and then click Next.

  3. Click Online backup.

  4. (Optional) Click Options to set your backup defaults, such as reminders and verification levels.

  5. Click Next.

    The company file closes and QuickBooks verifies the data before opening the Online Backup application.

  6. Use the Online Backup application to back up your company file.
