To check the FUTA rate

1. From the Employees menu, choose Payroll Item List .

2. Select the Federal Unemployment payroll item, and choose Edit from the Payroll Item menu button.

3. Click Next until you see the Federal unemployment tax rate screen.

4. Make sure you selected the correct rate for your company.

5. Click Next until you can click Finish.

If you have been using a rate that is too high and you have already exceeded the yearly maximum for any employee, you need to adjust the FUTA liability for the employee.
