Sometimes when working in Windows, the folder permissions where you keep your company files can change/become corrupted. This is not an Intuit issue, but a system issue. If you have any problems with the steps below or this does end up fixing it, please consult a qualified IT professional to repair the folder permissions.
Note: If the company file opens successfully, then there may be some folder/permission damage in your original file location and Intuit recommends it be repaired by a qualified IT professional or you can manually check folder permissions by following the steps in the set up folder permissions to share company files article.
A Clean Install is a more thorough process to replace all program files. Once the installation is complete, update QuickBooks to the latest release.
