You may see a message when replacing a company data file with a backup or portable company file:
[Your_Company_Name].qbw This file is set to read-only. Try again with a different file name.
Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.
All Windows files have attributes that can be set by programs or by the user. You can change the read-only attribute on your company file to prevent this message from appearing. Use either of these solutions to accomplish that. Running QuickBooks as Administrator in Windows Vista or Windows 7 can also resolve this issue and remove the need to reset the read-only attribute on multiple files.
