The Entire Memo does not Print on a Paycheck, Check or Bill Payment Check

The memo line is limited to 56 characters (including spaces) when printing checks, paychecks or bill payment checks.
Although check memo fields may allow you to enter a lengthy message, the limit of printable space may prevent QuickBooks from printing the entire memo line on checks.

 

How to fix it
You can see more of the message (up to approximately 96 characters) on a Transaction Detail report.
 
To display the Transaction Detail report, please follow these steps:
  1. From the Reports menu, choose Accountant & Taxes, and then select Transaction Detail by Account.
  2. Enter the date range.
  3. Click Modify Report, and specify items for the report:
    1. In the Columns box, select the desired columns.
    2. Click the Filters tab and set parameters in filters, such as Account (bank accounts will contain check transactions), Name, Transaction Type, and Number.
    3. Click OK when you have completed the report modification.
  4. On the report, expand the column by positioning the cursor over the diamond to the right of the Memo column, holding down the left mouse button, and then dragging the mouse to the right. QuickBooks will display more of the memo entered on the check form, with an ellipsis (...) after the character limit.
  5. To print the report, click Print. To save the report settings, click Memorize.
