Home Page appears blank

When you open QuickBooks the Home Page appears blank or icons may be missing.

Why this is happening

The QuickBooks display is affected by your Microsoft Windows resolution and font settings. If these settings are not optimized, QuickBooks may not be able to display the home page, centers or forms as expected.

How to fix it

Solution 1: Check your Windows display settings and screen resolution

See KB HOW13289 to correct possible display issues.

If you still do not have icons on your home page, try solution 2.

Solution 2: Update QuickBooks

Estimated time: 5 minutes

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. From the Help menu select Update QuickBooks.
  3. Click the Update Now tab
  4. Remove the check mark to the left of Maintenance Releases and click the Get Updates button
  5. When the text below the Get Updates button says Update Complete, click the OK button and close QuickBooks.
  6. Open QuickBooks and verify that the Home Page icons are back

If you still do not have icons on your home page, try solution 3.

Solution 3: Download a file to automatically rename two QuickBooks program files
Estimated time: 1 minute

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the homepagefix.bat file and save it to your desktop.
  3. Windows 8/Windows 7/Vista: Right-click the file and select Run as administrator.
    Windows XP:
    Double-click the file.
