Error: QuickBooks has stopped working, when toggling to a different edition

When toggling to a different edition in QuickBooks Accountant or QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions,  the following error is displayed:

Quickbooks has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends several solutions to this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.
