The following error occurs after converting to QuickBooks 2010 or later fails and you attempt to restore the backup created during the conversion to the previous version you had installed:
When restoring a backup from a QuickBooks 2010 or later conversion, use one of the following options to restore your backup to a previous version:
Solution 1: Verify the program they are restoring into is compatible with the program the backup file was created in.
Solution 2: Use the conversion tool located inside QuickBooks 2010 or later.
Solution 3: Download the standalone Conversion Tool
Important: This tool is not for converting QuickBooks 2010 or later files to a prior version. It should be used only to restore the backup created while upgrading the company file. Once the file is upgraded you will not be able to open it in a prior version of QuickBooks.

Note: The Conversion Tool works only for QuickBooks 2007, 2008, and 2009. Earlier versions must use the conversion tool in QuickBooks 2010 or later.
