The following error occurs when installing QuickBooks:

Error: The operating system denied access to the specified file: qbooks/setup.exe.
Why this is happening
This error can occur because the QuickBooks setup application checks your computer for third-party applications and resources.
How to fix it

To install QuickBooks without checking for third-party applications:

  1. Insert the QuickBooks CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. If the installation program begins automatically, click Quit to exit the installation.
  3. On the Microsoft Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon, or click the Start button and select My Computer. The My Computer window opens.
  4. Right-click the CD-ROM drive and select Explore. A new window opens listing the contents of the CD-ROM drive.
  5. Browse to the QBooks folder on the CD.
  6. Double-click the QuickBooks.msi icon. This launches the QuickBooks Installer without checking for third-party applications.

Note: For Downloaded programs the QuickBooks.MSI file can be found by going to Start >Run >%temp%>quickbooks finanacial software>qbooks>quickbooks.msi
