One of these errors occurs after you enter your validation code when activating your copy of QuickBooks Desktop:

  • The validation code is incorrect. Please verify the number and enter it again.
  • This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
How to fix it

Intuit recommends several solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try them all to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in order shown.


Ensure you have checked the following before performing any of the recommended solutions:

  • See if QuickBooks Desktop is already activated
  • Verify that the License number and product code match the one on the sticker on the QuickBooks product package.
    • For a downloaded product: Look in the purchase confirmation email you received from Intuit.
    • If you purchased QuickBooks on CD: Look for the a brightly colored sticker on the original CD envelope.
    • For missing license information: Use the QuickBooks license and Key code look up.
    • ProAdvisors: You can go to the member support site for installation codes.
