The following error occurs when trying to create, open, or update a company file in QuickBooks:
An error occured when QuickBooks tried to create, open or use the company file. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Intuit technical support and provide them with the following error codes: (6150, 0)
Why this is happening
This error happens when the data file is being accessed or created on damaged media (for instance, restoring the file from a damaged thumb drive).
How to fix it
If this happens when the file is located on the hard drive of your computer:
- Find the data file.
- Right-click on the QuickBooks company file (.QBW extension) and select Copy.
- Go to your desktop. Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select Paste.
- Try to open the file.
Note: This issue may be caused by a system issue. You may want to consult with your system administrator or other computer professional.
If this occurs when restoring a backup, portable company file or moving a copy of the file on a piece of portable media try a different disk, thumbdrive or copy the file across a network connection.
