This message can occur when QuickBooks program files are missing or damaged.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends 4 solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all 4 to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order presented here.

Solution 1: Run reboot.bat to re-register QuickBooks files in Microsoft Windows

  1. Run reboot.bat to re-register QuickBooks files in Microsoft Windows
  2. Open QuickBooks. If the same message appears, continue with solution 2.

 

Solution 2: Repair or reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework

  1. Repair or reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework
  2. Open QuickBooks. If the same message appears, continue with solution 3.
Solution 3: Repair the QuickBooks installation

  1. Repair your existing QuickBooks installation
  2. Open QuickBooks. If the same message appears, continue with solution 4.
Solution 4: Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks

  1. Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks and its installation files (Clean Install) to remove QuickBooks, clean up the installation folders, and reinstall the application.
  2. Open QuickBooks.
