When opening or while using a QuickBooks Desktop company file over a network, in multi-user mode, or while restoring a backup, you see one or more of the following errors:

Intuit recommends 3 solutions for this problem based on how you are using QuickBooks when you get the error message.. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all 3 to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.
Before attempting troubleshooting procedures:
If the error still occurs, select the option below that best fits your situation. For example, if you recently installed or updated firewall or antivirus software, you could start by checking the firewall settings. If you are not sure where to begin, step through each solution in order until the issue resolved.
Configure your Firewall and Internet security for updates and network access.
A network data file (.nd file extension) is a configuration file that allows access to a QuickBooks Desktop company file in a network environment.
On the computer that is hosting the QuickBooks Desktop company file:
Note: If you can't toggle hosting off and on, restart the computer in Safe mode with networking and try again.
The folder on the host computer containing the QuickBooks Desktop company file must allow full control to all users, including the QuickBooks Data Server Manager user (QBDataServiceUser*).
To verify or set folder permissions for QuickBooks Desktop users, refer to the appropriate information for your version of Microsoft Windows:
If repairing the QuickBooksDekstop installation doesn't resolve the issue, perform a clean uninstall and reinstall of QuickBooks Desktop.
Refer to Verify and rebuild your company file to determine if the company file is damaged.
Note: If the verify, rebuild, verify finds no integrity violations with your company file, create a new Windows Admin user called Test (see instructions at Microsoft Help & Support site) and login as this user.
Errors that occur while setting up or working in multi-user mode can be time-consuming to diagnose and correct. Note: If you cannot open the company file, the Switch to Multi User Mode will not be available. Please go to File>Utilities>Host Multi-User Access.
