Time format in decimal or minutes

  • When entering time or creating paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop, the time is not converted to decimal or minute format correctly.

Note: Only the QuickBooks Desktop Administrator can change the time format.
  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences and select General.
  2. Under the Company Preferences, select Decimal or Minutes from the Time Format section.
Decimal QuickBooks Desktop automatically interprets time entries as decimal fractions 4 hours and 30 = 4.5
Minutes QuickBooks Desktop automatically interprets time entries as hours and minutes 4 hours and 30 = 4:30
