Intuit Data Protect Backup Failed: Firewall or connection issue

Steps to take if you are setup for email notifications and you've received an Intuit Data Protect Backup Failed email with the message "Firewall or connection issue".


Note: Intuit Data Protect connects to the Internet through http ports 80 and 443. If you are able to browse the Internet and log into secure web sites, Intuit Data Protect should work.

For information about configuring your firewall or security software, please check the manufacturer's web site.

Detailed information

If you believe that your firewall or security software is blocking IDP or if you think there may be some other connection issue, please see Use the Intuit Data Protect Diagnostics Tool to detect issues.

If the Diagnostics Tool detects an issue with a firewall or your security software, you will need to configure your software an/or hardware to allow access.

Intuit Data Protect files that need to be added to your firewall exceptions list:

  • IntuitDataProtect.exe

  • IBuEngHost.exe

  • QBIDPService.exe
