Detailed instructions

Solution 1: Run IDP Diagnostic tool.

If the Diagnostic tool detects an issue with a firewall or third party security software, you will need to reconfigure the software and/or hardware to allow access to Intuit Data Protect Files.
For information about configuring your security software and/or hardware, please check the manufacturer’s website and add the following files for exceptions:
  • C:\Program Files(X86)\Common Files\Intuit\Data Protect\IntuitDataProtect.exe
  • C:\Program Files(X86)\Common Files\Intuit\Data Protect\IbuEnghost.exe
  • C:\Program Files(X86)\Common Files\Intuit\Data Protect\QBIDPServices.exe


Solution 2: Add Windows firewall Ports

  1. Press Windows + R to pull up the Run window.
  2. Type in Control Panel, go to System and Security.
  3. Choose Windows Firewall, click Advanced Settings.
  4. On the left side of the Advanced Settings window, click on Inbound Rules and then click New Rule from the right side of the same window.
  5. Type in the ports and click Next.
  6. Follow the prompts and follow the same process for outbound rules.
    • Incoming Port: 80
    • Outgoing Ports: 443, 16841


Solution 3: Clear the Internet Explorer cache, cookies, temporary files and SSL state

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Under the General tab go to Browsing History section and click on the Delete button.
  4. Select Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, History, Form Data and InPrivate Filtering data check box and uncheck Preserve Favorites and website data check box then click the Delete button to clear those items.
  5. Click the Content tab.
  6. Click the Clear SSL state button and OK at the confirmation window.
    Note: if you can’t find Tools on your browser, press ALT once to show hidden tabs.


Solution 4: Add Trusted Sites

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Uncheck the box for Enable Protected Mode.
  5. Click the Trusted sites icon.
  6. Click the Sites button.
  7. Uncheck Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone box.
  8. Add *.backup.com, *.intuit.com and *.intuit.net click Close.
  9. Click the Privacy tab. Click Sites.
  10. In the Address of Website box, add the websites: *.quickbooks.com and *.intuit.com. Click Allow each time you add the web addresses.
  11. Click OK.
