Running QuickBooks on Windows 7

If you are considering buying new computer equipment or updating your operating system to Windows 7, you may be wondering whether the version of QuickBooks you’re currently using will be compatible.

QuickBooks 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2010 (Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Solutions) are designed to be compatible with all editions of Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit). QuickBooks 2009 and 2008 can run on Windows 7, but some functionality may be impaired and you may encounter problems we cannot resolve.

Find your version of QuickBooks in the table below and use the information to help determine your best course of action. If you aren’t sure, find out what version of QuickBooks you have.

Note: As long as you have a currently supported version of QuickBooks, you can contact us and get assistance even if your version is not Windows 7 compatible. However, support would be limited to issues that are not known Windows 7 issues.

If you choose not to upgrade to QuickBooks 2013:

2008 and earlier*

  • Intuit does not recommend using QuickBooks 2007 or earlier on Windows 7.
  • We do not provide live support for QuickBooks 2008 and earlier versions. You can search this Support site and the QuickBooks Community site for help in resolving issues.

*Technical support for QuickBooks 2008 was discontinued as of May 31, 2011. QuickBooks 2007 and earlier versions are also no longer eligible for customer support services.

**Running QuickBooks 2009 or 2008 on Windows 7 in XP Mode may avoid some Windows 7-compatibility issues, but Intuit has not tested this environment, so we cannot promise that your experience will be trouble-free.

QuickBooks does not offer an option to email with Windows Live Mail
