Pending Invoices

Creating a pending invoice that does not affect your books.

Creating a report of existing pending invoices.

Detailed instructions
Mark an invoice as pending.

  1. From the menu, select Create Invoices.
  2. Enter Items and complete the body of the invoice.
     
  3. In QuickBooks 2013 and later,
    1. Click the Mark as Pending icon on the Invoice ribbon.
    2. Uncheck Print Later and Email Later.
       
  4. In QuickBooks 2012 and earlier:
    1. Go to the Edit menu and select Mark Invoice As Pending.
    2. Uncheck to be emailed and to be printed to keep the invoice off the to be emailed and to be printed lists.
       
  5. If you plan to separate Pending Invoices marked as to be printed from those marked as to be emailed you may want to type EMAIL or PRINT in the Memo field.
  6. Save the invoice.

 

Mark an invoice as final.

  1. Run your Pending Invoices report.
  2. QuickZoom on the invoice your need to make final.
     
  3. In QuickBooks 2013 and later, click the Mark as Final icon on the Invoice ribbon.
  4. In QuickBooks 2012 and earlier: go to Edit and select Mark Invoice As Final.
  5. Save the invoice.

 

Create a report to find Pending Invoices that need to be emailed.

  1. In the menu bar, select Reports and the select Sales.
  2. On the Sales submenu, select Pending Sales.
     
  3. Click on the Modify Report button of the Customize Report button.
  4. Click on Filters and select Memo from list.
  5. Type EMAIL or PRINT in Memo field next to filter list.
     
  6. To save the report for future use, click on Header/Foooter and rename title as desired.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Save to the desired Memorized Reports location.
