Change the currency symbol used in QuickBooks

QuickBooks uses the currency symbol specified in your Windows Control Panel. To change the symbol, you must change the Control Panel setting.

Detailed instructions

Note: QuickBooks versions 2008 and earlier do not support multiple currencies. If you switch from one currency symbol to another, only the currency symbol will change and exchange rates will not be calculated. For information on the multicurrency features of QuickBooks versions 2009 and later, refer to the QuickBooks Multicurrency Resource Center.

Important: Regional Settings are supported when set to English (United States), including the keyboard setting. Editing these settings to non-English (US) language may affect the following areas of QuickBooks:

  • Payroll
  • Merchant Services
  • Multicurrency (2009 and later)
  • Transactions

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can read discussions and post messages and questions relating to your issue on the Intuit QuickBooks Community site for free or you can contact a technical support agent for additional guidance. Fees may apply.
