Restart the QuickBooks Database Server Manager

For a number of error codes you receive, you may need to restart the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

To restart the QuickBooks Database Server Manager, go to the computer that is hosting the data file. If the full program is installed, start QuickBooks to start the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

If only the data manager is installed, you must go into Windows to start the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Detailed Instructions

 

If the full QuickBooks program is installed on the host or server:

  1. Start QuickBooks on the server.
  2. From the QuickBooks File menu choose Open or Restore Company.
  3. Select Open a company file.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Find your company file and select it.
  6. Select the Open file in multi-user mode checkbox.
  7. Click the Open button.
  8. Log into the company file with your normal user name and password.
  9. Choose File> Close Company/log off to close the company file on the server.

If only the QuickBooks Data Manager is installed on the host or server:

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
  3. Double-click Services.
  4. Right-click the appropriate data manager:
  • QuickBooksDB25 (QuickBooks 2015)
  • QuickBooksDB24 (QuickBooks 2014)
  • QuickBooksDB23 (QuickBooks 2013)
  • QuickBooksDB22 (QuickBooks 2012)
  • QuickBooksDB21 (QuickBooks 2011)
  1. Click Restart to restart the service.

If the QuickBooks Database Server Manager does not start:

  1. Reboot your server and repeat the preceding steps.
  2. Repair your QuickBooks or QuickBooks Server installation.
  3. Perform a clean install of QuickBooks.
