Print screens

You may have need to print a window that QuickBooks does not print, for example:

  • Item receipts
  • Bills and bill credits
  • Credit card charges
  • Reconciliation windows
  • Financial Statement Designer windows
  • Fixed Asset Manager windows
  • Loan Manager windows
Detailed Instructions

Microsoft Windows has a utility called Print Screen (PrtSc). When you press this key on your keyboard, Windows puts a "screenshot" or an image of your screen at that moment, onto your clipboard. Then you can open another application such as Paint, WordPad or Microsoft Word, and paste the screenshot from the clipboard into the application. Then you can print the screenshot from the application.

Example:
You have the Loan Manager window open and you want to save the image on the screen.

Here's what you do:

  1. Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This pastes the image onto your clipboard.
  2. Start Microsoft Word.
  3. Open a new document in Microsoft Word.
  4. Using your mouse, click into the new document so that you see the cursor flashing.
  5. On your keyboard, press Ctrl + V. This pastes the screenshot into your new document.
  6. Select the Word File menu and then select Print. This prints the screenshot to your printer.

You can also find screenshot programs on the Internet. These programs will create screenshots of the whole screen, parts of the screen or specific windows.
