QuickBooks 2000 and QuickBooks Pro 2000 for Windows
R8 Manual Download

Trial Version: Please do not use this method if you are using the Trial Version of QuickBooks or QuickBooks Pro. Installing the downloadable update will prevent you from unlocking the Trial Version to the Full version if you decide to purchase it.

  1. Download the appropriate update file, saving it to a convenient location on your hard drive.

Important: The downloaded file must be named exactly as shown in the table above.  You will not be able to update QuickBooks 2000 if the file is named differently.

  1. Exit QuickBooks.
  2. Find the update file, and double-click it.
  3. From the Install window, in the Browse box, select your QuickBooks directory, and then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the update process.
  4. When the installation is complete, restart your computer.
  5. After you restart your computer, check the Program Release in QuickBooks. If it says R8, you have successfully installed the latest release.

To check the current release of your QuickBooks program:

With QuickBooks open, hold down the CTRL key and press the number 1 (CTRL+1). Use the number one key at the top of your keyboard rather than the one on the number pad to the right.

QuickBooks will display a Product Information window. The first line of the Product Information window gives the QuickBooks product followed by the release, e.g. QuickBooks for Windows Version 2000 Release R8.
