Error: RA 2042 when trying to launch QuickBooks Online Backup

What is happening

The following error occurs when trying to launch QuickBooks Online Backup:

This error can occur if using an older version of Online Backup. .

Download the latest version of Online Backup. .
Detailed Instructions

Reinstall QuickBooks Online Backup to get the latest version:

  1. Open a web browser and enter www.quickbooks.com/support/onlinebackup
  2. Click the Login button in the center of the window
  3. Enter your Account ID and password, and then click the Reinstall button
  4. Follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall.

If the error Error: LA 4169 occurs during the installation process, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Cancel to abort the installation.
  2. Uninstall the existing version of Online Backup:
    1. Click the Microsoft® Windows®Start button and select Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs
    3. Scroll down the list of programs to find Online Backup.
    4. Click Change/Remove
  3. If no option to uninstall is available:
    1. Press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys, and then click the Task Manager button. . The Task Manager opens.
    2. Click the Processes tab
    3. Scroll to to find the Onlinebackup.exe process. . Click to select it, and then click the End Process button.
    4. Click OK.
