Firewall configuration for the QuickBooks Online Backup Service

What is happening
Connectivity issues or errors can result when you install or run the QuickBooks Online Backup application from behind a firewall (possibly a work computer).
Detailed Instructions
If you are attempting to install or use the QuickBooks Online Backup application from behind a software based firewall (for example, Norton, McAfee, or Zone Alarm):
  1. If prompted by the firewall application to allow connectivity for the QuickBooks Online Backup application, select Permit, Grant, or Allow.
  2. Manually configure the firewall application by reviewing the appropriate sections of the manual or help files that were supplied with the firewall program.
  3. Grant access to the program files onlinebackup.exe and onlinebackup.eng
  4. Ensure that TCP port number 16841 is open for outgoing connections only.
