Why does QuickBooks need my Windows password?

To do this task

  1. If not already displayed, open the Store Windows Password window.

    1. From the File menu, click Save Copy or Backup to open the backup wizard.

    2. Click Backup Copy, then click Next, and then click Local Backup.

    3. If you haven't already done so, click Options to set your backup defaults (such as where you want to save your local backup) then click Next.

    4. Click Only schedule future backups and then click Next.

    5. Click New or select one of your previous backups and click Edit.

    6. In the Schedule Backup window, click Store Password.

  2. Enter your Windows login in the Username field if it doesn't already appear.

  3. Enter your Windows password in the Password field.

  4. Click OK.
