About importing an Excel or .csv file into QuickBooks

If you are importing an Excel file, Microsoft Excel 97, 2000, 2002, or 2003 is required.

You can import an existing Excel or .csv (comma separated value) file into QuickBooks. You may have files that contain important business information about customers, vendors, and sales. That information can now be imported directly into QuickBooks and customized as desired.

It is recommended that you set up your import file correctly in order to transfer the data properly and avoid errors.

Before you import your file, you should:

1. Prepare it for import into QuickBooks.
2. Map the data from your file to QuickBooks.
3. Preview the imported data.
