Verify or Rebuild displays Error (-6143, -301)

The Verify Data Utility or the Rebuild Data Utility displays the message (-6143,-301) or (-6143, -101) and QuickBooks shuts down.

How to fix it

If you have recently updated from a previous version of QuickBooks and are seeing this error, you may want to:

  1. Restore the backup of your data in the previous version.
  2. Follow the steps in HOW12071.
  3. Reupdate your company data file.
  4. Reenter data that you have entered since you first updated.

If you have not recently updated, or if you cannot go back to your previous version, create a Portable Company File (PCF):

  1. Update your QuickBooks installation to the latest release for your version.
  2. Create and Restore a Portable Company File.
  3. Run the Verify Data Utility on the restored file to ensure the error does not occur.

If the issue persists, download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor.
