You may want to convert your information from QuickBooks into Quicken, but Intuit does not have an automated method to convert QuickBooks data into Quicken data.
If you are comfortable with exporting information from QuickBooks and manipulating data in excel, you could export your lists and/or vendors from QuickBooks, copy/paste the data into the Quicken interface files and import the data into Quicken.
The following steps are a guideline to how the data can be exported from QuickBooks, manipulated in Excel and imported into Quicken.
1. Export your Chart of Accounts (COA) and Vendor List
Export your Chart of Accounts (COA) and Vendor List to your desktop.

Note: In the QuickBooks export file, Hidden = N is an active account, Hidden = Y is in inactive account.
Or you can export your vendor list to excel.
2. To export the vendor list from the Vendor Center
- Open the Vendor Center
- Click on Excel in the header
- Click on Export Vendor List
- In the Export window, click on the “EXPORT” button.
- In Excel, click on the save icon, name and save your file.

3. Then export your information from Quicken in the .QIF format.
- Then you should copy/paste your QuickBooks information into the Quicken .QIF file.
- To open an .IIF file you will need to right-click on the file, left click on open with, click on choose program and select Microsoft Office Excel.
- Note: The QIF import is not available for checking, savings, credit cards, 401(k) and other brokerage accounts. This was replaced with a .QFX import file.
- To export your account list
- Click on File.
- Select Export.
- Select .QIF File (for accounts).
- Select Address (for names).

4. If you are using Quicken Home & Business, you can export/import the address book from Quicken in the .QIF format.
- a. Then you should copy/paste your QuickBooks information into the Quicken address file.
- To export your address
- Click on Tools
- Select Address Book
- Highlight at least one payee.
- click on File.
- Select Export.
- Select Addresses.
- click on Tab.
- enter file name.
- click the Next button.
- Select a quicken field.
- Click the ADD button.
- Repeat Steps x and xi until you have selected all fields you want to import.
- Click the Done button.
Note. You will need to enter at least one address before you can export.

Then you will map the fields to be imported by matching Quicken fields to QuickBooks fields.
To import your addresses:
- Click on File.
- Select Import.
- Select Addresses.
- Click on Tab.
- If the file name is not populated, click the BROWSE button to locate your file.
- Click the NEXT button.
- Select a Quicken Field
- Click the ADD button
- Repeat steps x. and xi. until you have selected all the fields you want to import.
- Click the DONE button
