QuickBooks uses certain non-Intuit programs that work with your existing operating system. This requires that Microsoft(R) Windows(R) have certain service packs and applications installed. If these programs and services are not currently installed, QuickBooks will install them for you.
The QuickBooks CD includes the following product installers. If it is necessary to install these products, they are installed at the same time as QuickBooks, but they are installed in your Windows operating system program folders.
- Microsoft .NETTM
.NET is a Microsoft platform for Web services. The installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at:
- QuickBooks 2008: ThirdParty\DotNET20\dotnetfx20.exe
- QuickBooks 2007 and earlier: ThirdParty\DotNET11\dotnetfx.exe
- Microsoft Windows Installer Service
The Microsoft Windows Installer is used to install software applications. The installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at:
- QuickBooks 2007 and later: QBooks\windowsinstaller-kb893803-x86.exe
- QuickBooks 2006 and earlier: QBooks\instmsiw.exe
- MDAC
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) contains core Data Access components such as the Microsoft SQL ServerTM , OLE DB provider, and ODBC driver. The installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at ThirdParty\MDAC28\dasetup.exe.
- Microsoft JET 4.0 Database
The JET 4.0 database engine is specific to the version of Windows on your computer, so QuickBooks comes with two versions of the product. The installation files are located on the QuickBooks CD at ThirdParty\JET40\9x-nt\jet40sp8_9xnt.exe and ThirdParty\JET40\ME\jet40sp8_wme.exe .
- Macromedia Flash
Macromedia Flash allows HTML and XML embedding of Flash animation and media content. The installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at:
- QuickBooks 2007 and later: ThirdParty\Flash8\install_flash_player_active_x.msi
- QuickBooks 2006 and earlier: ThirdParty\Flash7\install_flash_player_7.msi
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
The Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser is used to display embedded QuickBooks screens. The installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at ThirdParty\IE60\IE6setup.exe.
- Microsoft Visual C++
Microsoft Visual C++ is a runtime environment for Microsoft Windows-based and Microsoft .NET-based applications. Beginning with the release of QuickBooks 2007, the installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at ThirdParty\CRT8\vcredist_x86.exe.
- Microsoft XML
Microsoft ML (MSXML) is an XML parser from Microsoft that enables QuickBooks to access an XML document from within the application itself. Beginning with the release of QuickBooks 2007, the installation file is located on the QuickBooks CD at QBooks\msxml.msi.
