Error: "Could not initialize license properties. Error 3371..."
What is happening

One of the following errors occurs when registering or opening QuickBooks:

  • Could not initialize license properties. Error 3371: QuickBooks could not load the license data. This may be caused by missing or damaged files.

These errors indicate the QuickBooks installation is damaged. But don't worry, these steps will help you fix it.
Detailed Instructions

Resolving this issue could take up to 35 minutes on a computer with the recommended system configuration for QuickBooks. But you can stop at the end of any step and do the next steps later if you want to.

Before you continue: Fixing this error requires you to register your software again. Be sure you have your license number and product number ready. If you purchased QuickBooks on CD, these numbers are located on a sticker with the QuickBooks CD. If you installed a downloaded version of QuickBooks, these numbers are in your confirmation e-mail from Intuit.

Pick the solution that works best for you:

Solution A: Download and run the 3371 Wizard for Windows, which automates many of the solution tasks for you.

  1. Click here to open the File Download window.
  2. Click the Save button and save the 3371.exe file to your Windows desktop.
  3. Double-click the file to start the wizard and follow its instructions.

Solution B: Step through the solution without using the wizard:

If resetting the entitlement data file does not resolve the issue, proceed with the next step.
